I recently took a trip to Denver, Colorado to take a training course at Lagler North America. Lägler is a German company founded in 1956 that produces floor sanding equipment. The training course they offer at their only American facility is called Premium Sanding Training or PST. The PST teaches how to maximize efficiency on the job while getting consistent, top-quality results with their machines.
The facility was awesome. The instructors were very knowledgable and friendly. The course started off with a history of Lägler and a walk through their timeline of innovations up to present day. Followed by classroom time of learning about the machines and proper sanding technique. After classroom I was able to have some hands on time for the remainder of the day. I got a chance to refinish a 100 sq ft 2-1/4” red oak floor using the Hummel, Trio, and Flip machines. Then used their Single machine to buff on a European style penetrating oil finish.
I really enjoyed the opportunity to try all of these machines and compare them to the different machines I've used in the past. I am now PST certified and look forward to more training courses in the near future to help sharpen my skills in the craft of wood floors.
